College friends and my husband jump started my holiday season!!
A much needed trip to Syracuse for a 'Thanksmas' reunion was much needed! Every time we get together, it feels like we all fall right back into place with one another.
My Pinterest inspired assembled turkey
Now... my most favorite part of the season.... Christmas time!
Candy Cane Martini
While in the midst of decorating for Christmas, I was also preparing to host my mother's 50th Birthday!
It was an all exclusive girls night out with a champagne theme.
However, I could not forget the few pops of purple (her favorite color).
I just fell in love with the thought of a gold backdrop with old photos on top to for the '50'
I thought that House of Flowers did a wonderful job preparing a purplish bouquet for the table centerpiece.
White porcelain platters/serving dishes with chalk board tags
The bar area included lots of champagne and champagne glasses ready for the guests
I thought it would be a cute idea to add some purple rock candy to add to the champagne flutes.
P.s. If left in the glasses, it turns the champagne a lovely purple hue ; )
The details go as follows...
Cupcake in lieu of a cake
The guest begin to arrive...
The lovely ladies that attended my mom's party
The parting gifts for the guests included some of my mother's favorite things... Purple, Dark Chocolate, and Vodka
Then it was clean up time.... luckily, the after math wasn't too bad with some clean up help.
And now... it was time to prepare for Christmas.
It really is the most wonderful time of the year!
Our theme was silver and gold with pops of red.
Who doesn't love when the presents make their debut?!
I decided to keep the backdrop up until New Years... I thought it added a holiday feel to the room.
Other holiday touches:
I of course got the idea from pinterest.... I decided to print out reindeer templates, trace them, and glitterfy (yes, I am aware that this word might not exist) them to hand on top of the back drop.
These were sticks that had been spray painted white and topped with silver jingle bells.
Some of Christmas preparations were also made in the classroom...
The classroom gingerbread house
We made these festive candy bar wrappers for our kids
Made these for our social worker and TA from the 'deers' aka our class... (pinterest inspired or course..) each thumbprint reindeer represented a student from our class on the coffee mug.
Just have to brag, but I thought this was the cutest thing ever! The class and social worker hosted a breakfast for us on the last day and prepared and served us : ) A side note, I was so in love with this sweat shirt that I knew it must be mine and so I broke down and order it. It says "This girl loves Christmas"
I still have cookies lying around... however, I just had to do my yearly baking. Except for this year, I added peanut butter reindeer cookies to the mix.
This season we attended our first Ugly Sweater Christmas Party
Christmas Eve is just as exciting as Christmas day...
Finally finished... my mom's present request was for me to draw a tree with some quotes entwined in the branches.

Just the Heights Girls
Then the day we all had been waiting for arrived... Christmas!

I am a little sad now that it is all over... At least we still have the New Year to look forward to... Here's to 2013!
