Just another manic... weekend

I love weekends because I get so much done, but it seems as though I often forget to relax....  This weekend was short but definitely enjoyable.

Friday night was a low-key, stay at home night with my home made Spicy Thai peanut noodles, soft serve ice cream, and the new Footloose video.(Oh, and my husband) In my opinion, I enjoyed the second version of Footloose better than the first. It just seemed to be more relevant.

Saturday night began with family and friends enjoying some food (shrimp tacos for me) and drinks (skinny margaritas) at Chilis. Afterwards, we checke out a band at a local dive bar and called it an early night. My husband and I decided to end our night by "battling" each other in Dance Central and of course I won.

Sunday came all too soon... but I was lucky enough that my husband made me breakfast!! He will probally kill me for putting this picture on here but it makes me laugh! haha
This was my splurge since I am sure it was not the healthiest of breakfasts, but it was so worth it!! It had hash browns, eggs, onions, green peppers, Bacon, ham and cheese. He got the idea from one of our favorite TV shows: 'Diners, Drive-Inns, and Dives.'

After doing a dance performance in the afternoon for "Woman in the Arts," I ran some errands and got things done around the house. I have come to the conclusion that I am not longer allowing myself to go to Target anymore since I spent way too much money there Friday, again Saturday, and again on Sunday! Yikes!! I went a little overboard with the home goods being buy one, get one fifty percent off. I found some great lamps, lamp shades, and a cute yellow decorative serving tray amongst others...

I made some healthy kale and white bean soup for dinner. I have been hearing that kale is one of the new super foods, so I decided to try and incorporate it into my diet.

For dessert..... I decided to make a very healthy version of apple crisp.

I finally hung up some new frames since we repainted the hallway a few weeks ago. Still need to order some more wedding prints to fill the frames, but I like the look so far. I modge podged fabric to the letter C that is hung up and wrote out our first dance wedding lyrics on one of the frame mats.

In attempt to relax at the very end of the night, I was able to take a bath and exfoliate with my new products from a "Peel Party" kit.

All in all, I would say I had a well accomplished weekend.

Coffee Filter Wreath

This idea for the coffee filter wreath was taken from none other than PINTEREST!! : ) When my new crafting partner/co-worker (the Varsity Cheer coach), shared the same interest, we decided to get together and concoct these masterpieces! It was a process, but well worth the time and energy!

Step 1: Dye the coffee filters (choose about 3 colors) Variety of light and dark.

Step 2: Let them dry

Step 3: Fold them to resemble flowers and cut of the very bottom (this is so it won't be    bulky)

Step 4: Pin them with straight pins onto a    Styrofoam wreath.

Step 5: Repeat the process randomly pinning   until wreath is completely covered.

SUNDAY FUNDAY!!

I think Sundays just might be my new favorite day of the week! Reason being... this is the one day that both my husband and I have off together, I get to catch up on crafting/cooking/my DVR'ed TV  shows, and we have been taking the dogs for a run. Not to mention, that past couple weeks, the weather has been absolutely amazing on Sundays!

This Sunday in particular, after my husband treated me to lunch and new Ray Ban sunglasses, (yes, I am spoiled!) I had time to try out some recipes:

                                                                      Minestrone Soup

Pumpkin Bread with cream cheese filling
from the Sunday Baker's blog (only 500 calories for entire loaf)

All natural Reese peanut butter cups
from my favorite blog; asmallsnippet.blogspot.com
(My husband seemed to enjoy these!!)

I even got to modge-podged some fabric to the these letters for the kitchen

I decided to capture some photos of  what my Saint Patrick's Day was like or as my husband likes to refer to it as.... his feast day. This is due to his name being Patrick and being Catholic. I just go with it... I decided to actually make my own Corn Beef  and Cabbage soup (recipe from skinnytaste.com) this year along with a rainbow fruit platter that I obviously got that idea from Pinterest. (where else...) I had a great time making dinner for my husband and friends while enjoying the most beautiful weather outside.

Inspired by Pinterest...A Spring Wreath

Recently I've been inspired to actually complete a project I repinned on Pinterest. If you're not on Pinterest, you must join... Now!! It is the best site ever!! Any how... I have been longing for a wreath for my front door (and back door... next project: coming soon!). While perusing through the isles at Hobby Lobby gathering stuff for what I thought would be my first project, I found all the materials for a wreath I thought about making.

Materials:
wooden stick wreath
small faux bird's nest
petite faux baby birds
Styrofoam colored balls
wooden letter
colored ribbon
hot glue gun/glue

Finished Product....Ta Da!! : )

So, I know I have not posted lately... most likely due to all the multitasking going on (wink, wink). A little side note; the other night, my husband tells me he saw something on ABC and he explained to me that they were talking about how woman are not able to completely relax or at least they have a hard time doing so. This is due to the fact that they never feel like everything is completely accomplished and they feel guilty when they actually do relax. At first I thought he was making this up, (since he always says that about me) but he reassured me that he had in fact saw it on the television. I thought that was pretty crazy of how true it is! Since I have been running around like crazy, (and not relaxing) I thought I would at least post some pictures of what has been going on in my world.

Found my new obsession: A new place called Turtle Leaf Cafe. Amazing but healthy foods!!
Including my strawberry Panini and fruit salad with raspberry spinach smoothie

Mocha got her first haircut!!
And of course I had to post one of all the pups...
I have the best husband in the world who set up a massage appointment for me
Went bowling for the first time in years with my husband and some friends
Splurged and went crazy at ULTA
Got back in the studio to learn a dance
With all this warm weather, my husband and I have been making plans to hit up a Mets game this Summer.
And lastly, I have been busy crafting and making new meals
gluten-free/organic farfalla carbonara w/ peas

scambled eggs, asparagus, salmon, & goat cheese

taco stuffed-shells

cajun chicken pasta

pumpkin-pie smoothie

Before & After

While browsing through the new LOWE'S do it yourself magazine, I saw the most amazing curtains. They caught my eye do to the fact they had them hung up in a room that was painted the color similar to my front room. I knew right then that I had to have them!!

LOVE THAT!!

                                                  ONLINE SHOPPING

The other day I came home to find my packages have arrived!!! I could not be happier after a week of anticipation to see everything in person I had ordered from online. I felt like it was Christmas morning opening all of the large brown packages. I tore into them just like a little kid would with so much excitement. I had been shopping around for Otter Cases. I heard how good they were at protecting and knew I needed something durable for both my I-Phone and my I-Pad. (Yes, I am obsessed with apple technology!) I found them both on AMAZON.com for a fraction of the price. After shopping around, I finally chose a gray and pink case for my phone and a black and hot pink one for the I-Pad. Seeing them in person, I was definitely happy with my choices. They usually run for about $50 or so per case and I got both cases for about $50.  I also found a snow white decal for my MAC computer that I obviously had to add to my online shopping cart.

While on Amazon, I was looking for a good book that would keep me entertained but be light (not too serious). I am a fan of autobiographies and knowing that I am a sucker for the reality hit TV series "The Real Housewives of... ," I stumbled upon a couple of the housewives that have written their own books. My decisions include Bethany Frankel's book, A PLACE of YES and Lisa Vanderpump's SIMPLY DIVINE: A Guide to Easy, Elegant, and Affordable Entertaining.  I will have to let you know how they are...

Besides Amazon, I did a little shopping on Nordstrom.com. A little side note... they have Free Shipping on everything!! I have been looking for TOMS to add to my shoe collection. They are not appealing to every body, but I have to say they are the most comfortable slip on shoes I have ever put on my feet! I also really love the fact that for every pair bought, they donate a pair to those in need of shoes. So while indulging myself, I get to also help those in need. Pictured below: my new black TOMS.
